The Poppy of Pimlico Journey.

Poppy of Pimlico was set up in 2023 when my daughter Ronnie turned one and I started to plot my return to work. Our children have a way of teaching us what is most important in life and I knew I needed to find work that worked for us. I have worked as a chef for over a decade and I love cooking but it is not a job you can easily do from home.

When Ronnie was born I received a lot of beautiful hand me down clothes from friends and family and they gave me a lot of joy knowing they had been 'preloved'. Always an avid fan of second hand shopping (since my young adulthood in Pimlico) I turned to charity shops and online sellers to source clothes for Ronnie and I began selling her outgrown pieces. I had so much fun finding the clothes and talking to the families I met along the way that I spent more and more time doing it and realised there could be a business in it and so Poppy of Pimlico was born.

In setting up Poppy of Pimlico I have the rather lofty ambition of working towards a better future, by focusing on community and sustainability, hence my motto, 'shop small, be kind.' It is so important to me that I enjoy what I do and that my work has a positive impact on the world and selling beautiful preloved clothing does just that.
